Build Modern Web Applications: Analyze the requirements of web applications, select suitable technologies, and develop websites and simple backends using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST.
Contents
- Introduction: Client-Server model, HTTP Protocol, History of the Web
- Frontend: Client-side programming in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Backend: Server-side programming, e.g. in Golang, PHP, Python or Node.js
- Web-APIs: REST, API Documentation, JSON
- Usability: Responsive Design, Accessibility-Basics
Competencies
Students are able to
- explain the client-server model, analyze HTTP requests and responses, and contextualize the historical development of the Web
- develop functional, appealing, responsive, and accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- develop server-side applications (e.g., in Golang, PHP, or Node.js) and connect them e.g. with databases or APIs
- identify the principles of REST and and understand the benefits of standardized interfaces for separating frontend and backend
