Programming 1 (PR1)
1. Semester
10 ECTS | 8 SWS
Continuous Assessment (CA)
Write your first programs: You will learn the fundamentals of imperative and object-oriented programming in Java, use typical development tools, and independently implement algorithms to develop software applications.
Contents
- Using an integrated development environment, incl. debugger, configuration management, automated tests
- version management (Git)
- Imperative language constructs: assignment, condition, loop, array, static method and parameters, recursion, runtime exceptions
- Memory management (stack and heap)
- Object-oriented language constructs: class, object, attribute, (dynamically bound) method
- Interfaces and their implementation
- Inheritance, polymorphism
Competencies
Students are able to
- use mainstream development tools (editor, compiler, interpreted, IDE, version management, shell, ai prompts),
- explain basic concepts of object-oriented development,
- translate given algorithms into Java programs,
- work in small teams and present the result of their work, and
- unterstand and develop simple algorithms and implement these in Java.
