Tackle real-world challenges in medical data science: You independently develop data-driven solutions for a problem in healthcare - from data preparation and method selection through implementation and evaluation to the presentation of your results.
Contents
- Familiarization with the context of a project task in the field of medical data science
- Research into suitable methodologies
- Data processing
- Conceptualization and implementation of solution strategies
- Evaluation and comparison of solution strategies, including classification according to the current state of research
- Iterative improvement
- Preparation and implementation of regular progress reports
- Presentation of project results
Competencies
Students are able to
- develop a solution for a medical data science problem,
- apply theoretical knowledge in practice,
- assess which methods and tools/frameworks are appropriate in the given project context and adapt them accordingly,
- analyse and discuss practical problems in the context of theoretical considerations,
- independently carry out all tasks from requirements analysis to evaluation and final presentation,
- perform all project-related activities (planning, quality assurance, etc.),
- critically reflect on their own actions and the results achieved and learn from their mistakes,
- develop confidence in their own creativity and problem-solving skills.
